The eagerly anticipated game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is currently in development by Square Enix. The concept of Remake was introduced as the starting point of a series, each game functioning as an independent entity to retell the overarching tale of FFVII. The development process commenced in November 2019, even before Remake’s launch, and was officially announced in June 2022. The creative director Tetsuya Nomura, along with game directors Motomu Toriyama and Naoki Hamaguchi, who reprised their roles from Remake, are at the helm of the project.

To enhance mobility, the party can also ride Chocobos using specialized Chocobo Lure Materia.
The combat system builds upon the action-focused melee combat and the Active-Time Battle (ATB) mechanism introduced in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Players can seamlessly switch between characters in their party and engage in a combination of physical attacks, magic casting, and item usage. The innovative “Synergized” mechanic, originally seen in the downloadable content “Episode InterMISSION” for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (2021), has been integrated into Rebirth’s battle system. This enables party members to synchronize their attacks, albeit at the cost of a slower ATB bar fill rate.
